As a part of The Fountainhead Residency we are reviving
Worm-Hole Lab.
Mission
Worm-Hole Laboratory was created as a nomadic project for young curators and contemporary artists. WHL was founded out of a residential apartment with the intentions of reaching the art community of Miami and beyond. Participants, such as artists, writers and curators, are allowed to use WHL as a rehearsal space and arena for experimentation and investigations in contemporary art.
History
WHL debuted in November 2003. The first two exhibitions (Haunted and Making Up Carolyn) focused on the origins of the lab’s first location: The Carolyn Apartments. With no permanent venue space, I freely used my home to host these exhibitions as well as an artist talk and video preview with Tracey Moffatt and a Miami Art Museum Art Trek.
Through invitations, WHL began to take on a nomadic role and exhibit in various locations. These include Dirty South! at the World Arts Building, She’s About to Wake Up at Miami Light Projects, Dr. Moreau Explains at The Stray Show and Gypsies Curse, Abracadabra, Shatter, Cha-Cha-Cha and Behold a Pale Horse in various locations throughout Miami’s Wynwood Art District and Design District.
In 2005 WHL was hosted at Rocket Projects, Ingalls & Associates and extended beyond Miami to Toronto and México. This freedom of mobility has allowed WHL to plan a complete exhibition program, toy with curatorial themes, build site-specific installations, create an internship program and invite over 150 artists to present work in Miami (many for the first time). WHL is not a gallery nor a non-for-profit space. It is a curatorial project funded by its director and in-kind donations.

Champagne is a video program of recent new video work from the United States. This collection of visual pop is inspired by Saturday morning cartoons and Saturday morning hangovers. The films are filled with appropriated visual materials and elements of nostalgia. This show premiered in Los Angeles and continued to alternative spaces in México City and Birmingham, Alabama and now coming to Miami.
