My paintings are both representational and conceptual, and I work primarily with oil paint and dry pastel. I work from life and am inspired mainly by the figure and landscape. Because perspective changes after a long period of looking, I work quickly and energetically in attempt to capture the freshness of my initial impression. Photography is used in my work either as reference or as a point of departure, as the work inevitably takes on a life of its own.
